Who we are

This policy describes how Lulochan (“we”, “us”) handles personal information when you use our website and application at lulochan.com and app.lulochan.com (the “Services”), an AI-assisted Japanese learning product.

Information we collect

We collect:

1. Account data you provide, such as your email address and password.
2. Learning content and activity, including chat messages with the AI tutor, exercise answers, spaced-repetition and mastery progress, streaks, and study lists. During live voice-practice sessions, your audio is streamed to our AI providers for real-time transcription and evaluation; we do not record or store the audio itself.
3. Billing information, handled entirely by our payment processor, Lemon Squeezy — we do not receive or store your full card details.
4. Technical data such as device type, browser, IP address, and logs used for security and reliability. Anonymous visitor identifiers, campaign parameters, and Google click IDs (such as gclid) when you arrive from ads or tagged links.

How we use information

We use information to provide the Services (including generating lessons and evaluating exercises), track your learning progress, authenticate you, process payments, prevent abuse, comply with law, and send account-related communications such as email verification codes.

Third parties we share data with

We use a small number of service providers (“sub-processors”) to operate Lulochan, each of whom processes data only as needed to provide their service to us:

1. OpenAI — powers the AI chat tutor and real-time voice evaluation. Chat messages and voice audio are sent to OpenAI for processing.
2. ElevenLabs — generates the AI tutor’s spoken voice output during voice-practice sessions.
3. Lemon Squeezy — our merchant of record for subscription billing; they process your payment details directly.
4. Resend — sends transactional email, such as email-verification codes.
5. Google Tag Manager, Google Analytics, and Google Ads — loaded only after you grant optional analytics and/or ads cookies. They may process click identifiers, device data, and conversion events such as a completed signup. You can change this from Cookie settings on this page or in Settings → Preferences.

We do not sell your personal information.

Cookies and consent

First-party analytics and the anonymous visitor ID are used to operate the product funnel. Optional Google tags stay off until you accept analytics and/or ads cookies. Consent Mode defaults advertising and analytics storage to denied. The banner appears on first visit. Reopen Cookie settings from this page, the public footer, or Settings → Preferences.

Retention and security

We retain data as long as needed to operate the Services and meet legal obligations. We use industry-standard safeguards; no method of transmission over the internet is completely secure.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export your data, or to object to certain processing. Contact us at support@lulochan.com to exercise these rights.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the revised version here and update the “Last updated” date.
